The Innovation Centre at Bayview Yards Open House

The Innovation Centre at Bayview Yards was pleased to welcome more than 350 entrepreneurs, private and public sector leaders, investors, and community members to our Community Open House on October 13, 2015. Visitors dropped-in to learn about this dynamic entrepreneurial and innovation hub, and how it will add value to our local community, industry and economy.

The Community Open House enabled guests to meet members of the Innovation Centre team; see artist renderings of the renovated facility; and explore future technical capabilities and entrepreneurial programs to be delivered through the Innovation Centre.

Hosted by the Board of Directors, this interactive event featured leaders from the Innovation Centre Design and Build team of Morley Hoppner and Barry Hobin and Associates Architects; and initial programming partners that support entrepreneurs and firms across our community. These included Invest Ottawa, Carleton University, the University of Ottawa, Algonquin College, La Cite, and Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters – alongside many others on the horizon.

Guests also had the opportunity to engage Innovation Centre Champions such as the Minister Yasir Naqvi; Councillor Jeff Leiper; and Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson. Makerspace partner prototypeD also demonstrated some interactive technologies in 3D printing, motion tracking, and 3D website environments. In support of our community, many visitors brought along a donation for the Parkdale Food Centre.

Thank you to the many Innovation Centre leaders, team members and visitors who made this night a true success.
